Student who raped his girlfriend to death, sentenced to death by hanging

A High Court sitting in Akure, Ondo state has sentenced to death the killer boyfriend Chukwudi Onweniwe of an HND student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Nifemi Adeyeoye to death by hanging. Chukwudi Onweniwe was dragged before the court in May 22 2017 on a four count charge of action endangering life, kidnapping and abduction, rape and murder. . According to the Prosecutor, Jumoke Ogunjebi said the accused person abducted the deceased and took her “to a farm near Alayere, Ogbese, raped her and then snuffed life out of her by choking and strangulating her to death. The police prosecutor, Inspector John Aderibigbe said that one of the motorcyclists who testified in the case reported the suspicious movement of the accused person and the deceased at the police station.  Aderibigbe said that the case was later transferred to Special Anti Cultism Squad in Akure. University of Lagos gets new Vice Chancellor

UNILAG's outgoing Vice Chancellor is expected to vacate his office on Saturday, November 11, 2017, as Ogundipe assumes office.

The University of Lagos has appointed Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.

Following the Governing Council's meeting held on Friday, October 27, the University announced the appointment of the new VC on its official Facebook page.
According to the statement on the school's social media page, Ogundipe was selected out of three candidates nominated for the position.

Pursuant to the Law, the Search Team, the Criteria Committee, the Short-Listing Committee, and the Selection Board conducted the exercise and three candidates were nominated.
“At the end of the Governing Council meeting of Friday, 27th October 2017, Council approved the appointment of Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe.”  The statement reads.
The three candidates are Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Prof Ayodeji Olukoju and Prof Olukayode Amund.
Ogundipe, who is a professor of Botany until his appointment, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University and will succeed Prof. Rahamon Bello.

However, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Rahamon Bello is expected to vacate his office on Saturday, November 11, 2017, as Ogundipe assumes office
